Structure from Nature 1

Linocut No. 1 from the series Structures from Nature is one if my  art prints. I created it in my new graphics studio in Malexander. In the graphic studio, there is a graphic press that enables me to print. The forest surrounding the house is a source of inspiration. In this series, I pay homage to the structures of the trees.

Trees are truly remarkable organisms, towering over us with their majestic presence. Their expansive crowns, filled with lush leaves, create a natural canopy that blankets the earth below. When trees grow closely together in abundance, they form what we know as a forest. As we wander through the forest, we find ourselves surrounded by the sturdy trunks of these trees. This serve as the backbone of their existence.

The trunk, often referred to as the stem of the tree. It may not seem like an appropriate name for such a robust structure. However, the trunk plays a vital role in supporting the tree, much like a stem does for a smaller plant. Covered in thick, rough bark, the trunk acts as a protective shield for the tree's interior. It resembles a suit of armour. The bark itself possesses a unique structure, specific to each tree species, creating intricate perfect patterns that captivate the eye.

It is these patterns found on the bark that inspired me to create a linocut graphic, translating the beauty of nature into art. By capturing the essence of these natural designs, I hope to showcase the intricate details and unique characteristics of trees in a new and creative way.
