One of a Kind Painting

Every artwork in this gallery is truly one of a kind. Jolanta Johnsson creates each piece individually, ensuring that every work is unique.
The themes and compositions of her paintings are sincere expressions of the artist’s creativity. They span a wide range of subjects — landscapes, figurative works featuring one or multiple figures, as well as abstract and semi-abstract compositions. Each painting arises from the artist’s inner need to express her emotions. She never reproduces or repeats her own works, which makes every painting a singular and original creation.
Printmaking, by contrast, is an art form that allows for reproduction. For this reason, prints are produced in limited editions, each copy carefully numbered. Jolanta Johnsson creates small editions printed entirely by hand, meaning that every print also bears the marks of individual craftsmanship and remains unique in its own way.
Monotype, or monoprint, is a graphic art technique whose name derives from the Greek word mono, meaning “single.” It resembles painting through the process of manual printing. Jolanta Johnsson values this technique for the sense of discovery and serendipity it offers, often opening new artistic horizons.
Drawing constitutes a distinct field within the artist’s practice. Here, drawings are created as finished works in their own right. Most remain independent, self-contained images, though some later inspire paintings with related compositions.
The sculptures are created from two materials — metal and wood. Thick sheets of steel or aluminium, cut into figurative forms, are combined with wooden elements that complete the figure or serve as its base. Each piece of wood comes from trees in the artist’s immediate surroundings. She knows their history and selects them with great care.
Thus, every object exhibited in the gallery is genuinely one of a kind.
These are not mass-produced decorations — they are original works of art meant to be treasured.
