Pink Bloom – Abstract Floral

How do you capture the essence of a flower in oil on canvas? That question consumed me when I began — though calling it a question is too modest. It was a bold whim, because to paint a flower is to challenge nature itself, and nature always wins.

So I didn't try to outshine it. I surrendered to it instead: watched closely, then translated what I saw into something simpler and more expressive. I lifted the bloom from its habitat, set it against a dense, tangled ground, and let the intense pink take over and glow.

Cut from its stem, the flower becomes a self-contained universe — petals caught mid-dance around the center, a moment of harmony held still. This is how my landscapes always behave: observed nature tipping toward abstraction.
