About This Piece

A sunset that reads as black — the day not gone, but the sun no longer fully here. This is the in-between hour, when light gives way to darkness and the fields hold the last muted rays.

Look longer and the landscape becomes a mosaic shaped by human hands: the parallel striations of plowed earth, pattern laid into soil that has accepted it. Here the two things I keep returning to meet — nature and human intervention, neither separate from the other. A field becomes emotional rather than scenic.

The black light catches those furrows and makes you want to hold the moment still. The quiet consolation is that it returns tomorrow, if you stay open to it.

A semi-abstract landscape in oil, where the title's strangeness is the point — contemporary art letting a thing be seen its own way.

Original work, signed.
