Works from the Studio

OIL · PAPER · STEEL — THE MEDIUMS

Everything here was made in my studio in Boxholm, Sweden — a workroom among forests and lakes, where four decades of practice across four mediums continue daily.

Oil on canvas is the spine of the work: semi-abstract paintings where observed landscape tips toward abstraction and the human figure is simplified until it carries feeling rather than likeness. Oil rewards patience — layers, glazes, revisions — and it ages the way only oil does: slowly, and well.

Graphics on paper come from my printmaking life — I taught the craft for years, and it shows in the editions: linocuts in personal techniques, printed by hand on fine Fabriano paper, each edition small and numbered, each impression subtly its own.

Monotypes are the freest things I make: one pass through the press, one to four impressions, and the image can never be repeated. What the plate gives is what exists.

Drawings are not studies for something else. Pen, ink, crayon — they are complete statements, the most direct line to the hand that exists in art.

Sculpture joins thick steel or aluminium with wood from the surrounding forests — the two worlds of my painting, made physical.
