About This Piece
Everything is for sale — life, time, attention. And yet the things that matter most can't be bought. Love, memory, connection: these escape every price tag. This work is about what remains when you subtract everything money can reach.
The circle is where that lives. A figure with no beginning and no end, it has always stood for infinity — and it makes a fitting metaphor for a life: complete, cyclical, endlessly in motion. We spiral through acceleration and pause, and each of us stands at the center, witness to the rhythm of our own existence.
Come close to the surface. I printed the circle in dense black ink — a black that pulls in the light and holds it, the way time quietly consumes each moment and replaces it with the next. From across the room it is a perfect form; at arm's length it is a depth. The work changes with your distance from it, the way a life does.
Some viewers see a planet. Some see a pupil looking back. Some see the still point they keep trying to find in their own weeks. All of these are right; the work holds them.
This is not decoration. It is a mirror for thought — a pause in the cycle. Orbit of Presence opens the Human 2021 cycle: humanity surrounded by questions that have no answers, living and loving anyway. Alongside it stand Gravity of the Unseen, Her Horizon, His Horizon, Each in Their Own Orbit and The Parts We Are.

If you stood at the center of your own orbit for a moment while reading this — write to me. I answer personally.
Studio letters
I send occasional letters from the studio — no noise, just the work and what’s behind it.
