About This Piece

Water lilies look weightless — broad leaves and luminous blossoms resting on the still surface, drifting with the smallest ripple. But the weightlessness is an illusion. Beneath the water, long flexible stems anchor each plant to the depths, holding it so the flower can rise into the light. Strength below, grace above. That quiet balance is what I keep returning to.

In my painting the blossoms haven't opened yet — the leaves have only begun to emerge, floating upward as though reaching for freedom. An ethereal prelude to the blooms still to come.

Monet spent a lifetime here, and I understand why: the lily is never just a flower but a window onto light, shadow, and reflection — onto feeling. This is my nature theme exactly: observed nature tipping into something emotional and still.

An original painting. Signed.
