About This Piece

Two worlds meet in this landscape. In the foreground, a brown hill alive with the season — slopes cloaked in warm browns, oranges, and the golden hues of autumn leaves, a place where life gathers and humans and animals feel at home. Behind it, the mountains: sharp, youthful summits, jagged from millions of years of upheaval, barren and silent.

The hill's slope is the dividing line — between the living and the wild, the tender and the harsh. On one side colour and activity; on the other, stillness. I keep returning to that boundary, because it's the same conversation I find everywhere in nature: warmth held against immensity, life against the vast indifferent.

Brown carries it all — warmth, grounding, the quiet strength of the earth. This is my landscape theme as a meeting of opposites.
