Grey Rock on the Shore

Grey rock is everywhere along the Scandinavian shore, and it tells a long story. These stones are the work of the Ice Age — glaciers grinding slowly across the land, carving it and leaving behind these colossal boulders. In Östergötland they dominate the horizon, massive and unyielding, remnants of an almost unimaginable force.

But what holds me is the moment they meet the water. The rocks reflect on the still surface, and their mirrored forms conjure something else entirely — slumbering dragons, vast caterpillars resting at the water's edge. The line between the real stone and its reflection blurs, and suddenly the scene feels alive, charged with a quiet energy.

So they're two things at once: silent witnesses to ancient power, and open canvases for the imagination. That doubleness is exactly my landscape theme.
