About This Piece
Mountain Lady may initially bring to mind a woman who resides in the mountains. However, in this painting, I have expanded upon this notion to portray a woman who embodies the essence of a mountain itself.
Furthermore, we often associate mountains with greatness, stability, permanence, and presence. These are qualities that women can possess.
Mountain Lady – a Women Role
Moreover, women play various roles in our lives, starting as mothers and evolving into girlfriends, lovers, and wives, mothers. Consequently, their presence is constant, much like the mountain that we observe daily. We check for its reassuring presence on the horizon each morning. Indeed, the sight of the mountain's peak brings a sense of security and relief. It symbolises safety.
In the painting, the mountain at which lady is gazing upwards, perhaps at something beyond our view. Thus, we have to follow her gaze, to climb higher and overcome our limitations.
Sleeping Lady Mountain
You can also imagine a sleeping lady mountain. Who can wake up at any time and be active. Don't many women exemplify this? They show strength and determination to act in places and at times when no one expected it of them. They overcome mountains of problems and adversity. Yes, a mountain woman is sometimes a sleeping lady mountain, but up to a certain point.
Ultimately, the mountain lady serves as a companion in our journey towards self-improvement and exploration.
Mixed technique
I printed and painted this image on Fabriano graphic paper using a mixed media technique. Specifically, it incorporates a unique printing method, monotype. Additionally, I painted the vibrant orange background with acrylic paint. This adds depth and contrast to the portrayal of the mountain lady.
