Nature Drawing

Nature drawing is a difficult task, one could risk saying that it is breakneck. Nature creates forms and structures out of organic and inorganic matter.

And then, further on, animate and inanimate objects are created from these structures. We give them a name, define the species, identify the family, and study the relationships between them.

This kind of activity is necessary. It brings some order to the unlimited diversity of nature. It also helps to observe and try to understand natural phenomena.

We have already accumulated a lot of knowledge about nature. We should be grateful to all those patient researchers and observers who, over the centuries, have persevered somewhere, watching something and recording their observations.

The knowledge they have accumulated allows us to understand nature better. To understand and admire its perfect creations. Admiration and fascination are perfectly legitimate responses.

This is how I react when I look at the natural structures of trees, their knots, plants, stones and - I could go on and on and list other elements of the landscape. My observations are spontaneous, I am not bound by the rules of scientific research. My record is nature drawing or an art print in linocut technique. I don't have to reproduce anything. I draw fragments of structures from nature. They do not belong to any species. And yet they would not have come into being if it were not for all that surrounds me.
