Rose on Black

A red rose against pure black. The darkness makes the colour almost impossibly vivid — far more than red ever could against red.

But the black is doing more than flattering the flower. Black is the unfathomable: the unknown, the incomprehensible, like the dark between stars. And out of that void a rose appears — proof that the darkness isn't empty, that something can exist there, and not just exist but stop you with its beauty. Lean in close and the coiled heart of the bloom opens to you.

This is my nature theme as contrast and mystery. An original work. Signed.
