Sunset Time

The warm hues of orange and pink streak the horizon, and for a moment the whole world pauses. A sunset is beautiful, but it's never only beautiful. It marks the irreversible end of a day — whatever happened is now history, unchangeable.

So we stand and ask the quiet question: did I live this one fully? Sometimes a pang of regret comes with the fading light, for a day let slip. But the same sky offers its consolation. The beauty momentarily silences the ache of time passing, replacing it with awe.

That's the feeling I painted. Something is ending — we feel it in the body — and yet after the sunset comes evening, then night, then the promise of tomorrow. Something ends and something begins, in the same breath of colour.
