About This Piece

For a few minutes the trees catch fire. As the sun lowers behind them, its light pours through the branches until they seem to cradle a glowing sphere — outlines lit, the whole tangle radiant. Then, just as fast, it's gone. The shadows grow, and the fiery branches collapse into dark silhouettes, jagged against a dimming sky.

That whole transformation takes only minutes. It's the brevity that moves me — the sky becomes a canvas, and no two evenings ever paint the same design. This one existed only once.

So the title is a small reminder to myself, and to you: look up, slow down, don't miss it. The sun will set again tomorrow, but never quite like this.

Each drawing I make is partly that — a record of a moment that will never exist again.

An original drawing. Signed.

Jolanta
