About This Piece

Winter turns a landscape into something almost unreal. Snow buries the trees and the ground, peaks push through the white while whole valleys surrender and vanish beneath it. As the snow slides downward it leaves streaks winding unpredictably across the slopes — specks of colour threading through the whiteness like a vast natural carpet.

What strikes me is how designed it all looks, as though some invisible hand had sharpened coloured pencils to draw the ridges and spread white crayon over the slopes. Every stroke deliberate. Nature as the great artist, and the mountain a drawing she never repeats.

The jagged horizon is part of the pull. A flat line comforts; a mountain's edge unsettles and beckons at once — mystery and promise in the same shape. That's the feeling I went after.

This is my landscape theme written in snow. An original drawing. Signed.
