About This Piece
This began with sunlight filtering through reeds. I didn't want to copy that — I wanted to catch its energy. So the reeds became spherical shapes, symbols of life, varying in size to suggest growth and diversity, with luminous streaks of yellow and red carrying the warmth of the light and flowing textures holding the constant sway. A dialogue between light and form, balance and motion.
I painted it intuitively, letting the colours and shapes emerge before I knew what it was. The name Dense Reed only arrived once the work was finished.
And it stays open. You might see the first light of dawn on dew-wet reeds, or a fiery sunset, or simply the rhythm of wind through stems. Whatever you bring, it holds.
This is my landscape theme at its most abstract: nature turned to feeling. An original painting. Signed.
