About This Piece

Not every flower has to be observed to be drawn. Sometimes I close the reference and let imagination and memory do the work — inventing blooms that don't grow anywhere, adding them to nature's endless collection.

That's what these are: fancy flowers, pure form in pen and ink, black and white. I draw a flower the way an architect draws a building, following its structure — the stem rising, the leaves supporting, and at the crown the blossom, petals circling that central eye. Curved lines, overlapping petals, irregular shapes settling into something that feels alive.

No colour this time, no Monet lilies. Just the honest geometry of a flower that exists only because I imagined it.

This is my nature theme set free from observation — invention growing out of a lifetime of looking.

An original pen-and-ink drawing. Signed.
