About This Piece

Hidden Figures

I'm drawn to concealing human figures within a drawing — tucking them into its lines until they nearly disappear. It speaks to a paradox at the center of art: we create to reveal, and yet sometimes we choose to veil. That hiding turns the work into a puzzle, and a puzzle asks to be solved.

Because the moment something is hidden, you want to find it. The search becomes its own quiet journey — anticipation, curiosity — and when the figure finally emerges from the composition, there's a real thrill to it, as if the drawing had shared a secret with you alone.

Why hide them at all? For me the figures retreat into their own enigmatic spaces, a sanctuary of solitude. But I always hope they'll come out again, seeking one another, meeting with joy.

Concealment, connection, discovery — the unseen made findable. An original drawing. Signed.
