About This Piece

Two figures close together — leaning in, holding the smallest distance between them. Love is the most universal theme there is, and though the word can feel overused, it keeps its power because we never stop wanting it. This drawing is one attempt to hold that longing.

I worked it in black and white on purpose. Stripped of colour, the form and the feeling come forward; shadow and line do all the work, and there's room left for your own imagination to enter. Intimacy distilled.

And love is never quite idealised. Each one is its own story — no two lovers, and no two drawings, ever the same. Every time I return to the subject, the lines and shapes take a different shape, which is why I could draw it endlessly.

For now, there is this one. An original drawing. Signed.
