About This Piece
She is built from contrast: green against red, rebirth against heat, vitality against urgency. The colours behave like painted skin, not shading — and she is not comfortable, which is exactly why she is here.
Her pose has a twist of resistance in it: a woman claiming her space, declaring her presence with more force because of the awkwardness of it. I altered the proportions deliberately — they carry psychological weight rather than likeness. The imperfection of the human form is where its beauty lives; a smoother figure would have nothing to say.
Look at where the yellow meets the red on the body — They stay in tension along the whole figure, the way vitality and urgency stay in tension in a life.
