Two in One

Two figures knit together into a single body — and yet not quite. Look closely and they deviate from each other, each leaning slightly its own way, as if to insist there are still directions it must travel alone. That deviation is the whole point. It's the price of staying yourself inside a union.

We're imperfect, and we know it, so we look to complete ourselves in another. No one wants to be alone. Real fullness comes rarely in a life, and most often it comes through togetherness — the kind made as a lifelong decision.

I kept thinking of the words from Genesis: "they shall become one flesh." That was my problem to solve in line — how to draw two becoming one without either disappearing.
