About This Piece
I live near lakes wrapped in forest, and on the calmest days something quiet happens: the wind drops, and the water turns to a mirror. The trees and the shoreline lie perfectly on its glossy surface, and you can watch the tiny dramas of insects and fish leaving their fleeting marks on it.
Then the wind returns, and everything changes. The sheen wrinkles away, the colour shifts, the surface comes alive — as if the water were a single great organism holding everything else inside it.
I never quite know when it's most beautiful. Perhaps when the sun throws the shadows of the shore trees across it, light and shade in restless interplay. That's the moment I want to keep.
Painted in oil, in greens and blues — my landscape theme as pure reflection and feeling.
An original oil on canvas. Signed.
Jolanta
