About This Piece
A single finger-shaped leaf takes the whole canvas. It's only medium-sized in fact, but its organic curves stretch across the frame until it feels monumental — a small thing made vast by how it fills the space.
The leaf spreads symmetrically, vertical and horizontal, holding the canvas with quiet force. But its stem is hidden, so you can't tell whether it belongs to a tree, another plant, or nothing at all. With no anchor, it reads as independent — a figure in its own right rather than a botanical study.
That's deliberate. I don't aim for realism; I reinterpret the leaf, emphasising its veins, edges, and energy over literal accuracy. Each vein speaks of fragility and resilience at once — that in-between state I keep returning to.
One fragment of nature, holding vast feeling. An abstract oil on canvas. Signed.
