The Green Leaf

A leaf is one of those things we overlook — a small part of a tree — until you look closely. Then the veins, the shifting shades, the sheer green of it all speak of growth and renewal. That's what I wanted to paint: not a leaf, but its spirit.

So this isn't one leaf. It's the essence of countless leaves I've admired over the years, blended into a single abstract vision. The forms became an idea more than an object — veins reading like pathways in a living network, every intersection a choice, a branching, a kind of growth.

I think of a greenhouse, where you step inside and light filters through green on every side until you feel yourself inside a giant leaf. I wanted the painting to hold that — green you can wander into.
