Seascape with Birds

A seascape looks simple — a horizon line, sky above, sea below. But that line is where the interest lives, the seam where two realms meet and, in the right light, dissolve into one another.

Let the water rise and the horizon breaks: waves become towering mountains in motion, the calm turns dynamic. And above the turbulence, birds — moving through the chaos with a freedom we can only long for.

That longing is really the subject. The sound of the waves, the wind, the birds circling overhead all remind us of our small place in something vast. I paint the sea not to picture it but to hold that feeling: connection to a world far larger than ourselves.

This is my landscape theme at its most elemental. An original painting. Signed.
