About This Piece

A woman faces two directions at once, present in several moments at the same time. Any woman who moves between roles all day — holding things together, shifting from one demand to the next — knows that feeling exactly. That's who this piece is for.

I built it from illustrated magazines of the 1920s, where women appeared as elegant figures, household pillars, tireless workers — expected to be superwomen for everyone around them. That expectation hasn't fully gone. So the work speaks across a century: women carrying history, dreams, and other people's hopes all at once.

The technique mirrors that layering. Monotype and collage, colour built up through offset prints, acrylic, and crayon, run through the graphic press again and again — each pass adding texture until the image holds both tension and calm, like the women it honours.

A mixed-media original. Signed.
